Public-comment period on power project extended

ALBANY — The New York State Public Service Commission has extended the public-comment period on the joint proposal submitted regarding Champlain Hudson Power Express Inc.

Champlain-Hudson Power Express and CHPE Properties have requested approval to construct a 1,000-megawatt transmission facility from the Canadian border to New York City. The direct transmission line would be buried under Lake Champlain and the Hudson River, with one portion buried along a railroad right-of-way to avoid an area of the Hudson River where dredging is ongoing.
