Groups protest Canada-to-New York power line

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Legislative and business leaders are protesting plans for a $2.2 billion, 330-mile transmission line that would pass through Saratoga County, carrying electricity from Canada to metropolitan New York.

Plans call for running the line beneath Lake Champlain, the Champlain Canal and Hudson River. To avoid PCB dredging on the Upper Hudson, the power line would go underground through Saratoga County, following a railroad corridor to Glenville before re-entering the river south of Albany.
