News from Deerfield

01 Feb

Grace, a Northern Pass Friend from Deerfield, has sent us some news we would like to share with our readers. Note that she reports that Diane Rehms will be talking about the Fifth Amendment and eminent domain on her show this coming Monday. We think eminent domain is becoming a hot topic in the country as corporate interests (many for profit) as the XL Pipeline, Marcellus Shale and other projects in this country are going back to the trough to drink. We’re in for another era of “land grabs” for resources including energy. Here’s Grace’s news:

On Friday, Diane Rehm promoted her National Public Radio program on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:06 am.

The topic is the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Ms. Rehm stated that eminent domain would be discussed in regards to the Fifth Amendment and the “unlawful “takings” of private property for public use by the federal government”.

I thought your readers would like to listen in. Perhaps some might like to call or email about the Opposition to Northern Pass.

More Deerfield folks have put up Stop the Pass signs throughout the winter. The Deerfield roads to the PSNH station are lined with Stop the Pass signs and very visible on Routes 103 & 47, the town’s main roads.
