NU-NSTAR merger faces hurdles next week

The merger of Connecticut Light & Power parent Northeast Utilities with Massachusetts’ NSTAR faces hurdles next week as concerns about the Hartford-based utility’s storm response record dog regulators’ consideration of the union.

Proposed in 2010, NU’s $4.7 billion purchase of NSTAR is being scrutinized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. NU also owns Western Massachusetts Electric Co.
