GOP Candidate Position on Northern Pass

11 Jan

Mitt Romney stance is questionable…he has not taken a position for or against Northern Pass, although he does say he is against the use of Eminent Domain for private companies, all the while accepting campaign contributions from Greg Butler, senior vice president and general counsel for the Northern Pass Project.

Romeny Walks Fine Power Line and <a href="http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/289583/romney-takes-northern-pass?SESS9852bdce0a6e563d33c7576134c660ab=google&page=full"Romney Takes Northern Pass

Rick Santorum does not offer opinion on the subject, but states “it should be a local decision.”

Ron Paul is also against the use of Eminent Domain for private companies “We shouldn’t have that power given to the government where they can take private land and transfer it to a private industry.” here and here.

Newt Gingrich seems to think that as long as we are compensated properly, he’s open to “finding a creative solution.” Interview with Newt Gingrich 7/26/11:

Rick Perry doesn’t seem to state any formal opinion on the subject, but in this interview, he seems to think that it’s okay, as long as they follow existing Right of Way’s.
