PSNH wants temporary electricity rate increase

Public Service of New Hampshire has asked the state to set a temporary electricity rate effective Jan. 1 so the company can begin to recoup the costs of its $422 million scrubber at the Bow power plant. The Public Utilities Commission recently decided to set the Jan. 1 rates without taking the scrubber into consideration while it conducts a separate review of that project.

But PSNH officials yesterday filed a motion to set a temporary rate effective Jan. 1, saying if customers begin paying soon, they will incur less interest for the project over time.
