Last month’s snowstorm caused hundreds of power outages in homes and businesses across the state, leaving N.H. residents ill-equipped, unable to heat their homes and forced to live in temporary darkness. This storm is one of many that have negatively affected the area over the past couple of years.
One option is to bury most of the power lines in N.H. underground, but that comes with a high price tag. As reported by The Union Leader, the project would cost $43 billion and take over 40 years to finalize, which has given the project a very uncertain future.
If power lines were to be installed beneath the ground, this would require excavating and blasting in residential areas, posing other potential problems down the road.
