State House, not PSNH, took lead after storm

LACONIA — Although it won’t be coming through the city or any immediately adjacent communities, the Northern Pass electrical transmission project was the keynote topic during Wednesday’s monthly meeting of the Belknap Republican Committee.

Mike Marino, a member of the Pemi-Baker Valley Republican Committee and a Holderness resident, said proponents of the Northern Pass project — which would bring hydroelectric power 180 miles from Quebec to a converter facility in Franklin and then into the New England regional power grid — have not looked at a technology that, if used, “would drive the opposition away.”
