PSNH: Scrubber in under budget

The construction of a scrubber at the Bow power plant will come in $35 million under budget, Public Service of New Hampshire announced yesterday in its annual report to the state’s Public Utilities Commission.

The scrubber, mandated by a 2006 law to reduce sulfur and mercury emissions, was originally projected to cost $457 million. In fall 2010, the company announced the project would only total $430 million, and yesterday PSNH announced an additional $8 million savings, bringing the new total to $422 million.
