CT lawmakers propose utility performance standards

Two key Connecticut lawmakers on Wednesday proposed the state create performance standards for utilities to serve customers with power and restore electricity following outages.

Connecticut is mired in its second massive power outage in two months. More than a million customers of Berlin-based Connecticut Light & Power and New Haven-based United Illuminating lost power following Tropical Storm Irene on Aug. 30 and the Halloween snowstorm on Oct. 29.
